Terraform in GCP (Google Cloud Platform)

is an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool used to automate the provisioning and management of GCP resources using code. Developed by HashiCorp, Terraform allows you to define your infrastructure using a high-level configuration language called HCL (HashiCorp Configuration Language).

Instead of manually creating services like BigQuery datasets, Cloud Storage buckets, VMs, or networks through the GCP Console, Terraform lets you write code to define and deploy them. These configurations can be version-controlled, shared, and reused, making deployments more consistent, repeatable, and scalable.

Terraform uses the Google Provider plugin to interact with GCP services. Once the code is written, running terraform apply creates or updates resources as needed. It maintains a state file to track what resources it manages.

Terraform is especially useful for DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and multi-cloud strategies, enabling teams to provision infrastructure efficiently and securely in GCP.
